About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** River Island State Park's River View Day Use Area is located along the Arizona side of the lower Colorado River in the Parker Strip Recreation Area, approximately 45 minutes south of Lake Havasu City via I-95 South and Resort Road. This day-use facility is handicap accessible and offers a three-lane boat launch ramp in a calm cove with 20 boat-length parking spaces. The cove is designated as a no-wake zone, making it ideal for launching kayaks and canoes.

**On the Water:** The Colorado River at this location is a major waterway with an average flow of 2,220 cubic feet per second and velocity of 7.75 feet per second. Paddlers should note the island reef hazard located in the center of the cove—stay near the cliffs to safely access the main river channel. The river supports year-round recreation, with particularly favorable conditions during winter months.

**Facilities & Planning:** The park includes picnic tables, a sandy beach, hiking trails, and a restaurant/park store. While this is a day-use area, overnight camping is available at the adjacent 37-site campground. **Boat launch spots require advance reservations**—contact the park at 928-505-1200 to secure your spot. If no reserved spaces are available, dry camping near the boat ramp may be permitted for 1-2 nights, with extended stays possible by arrangement with the ranger.
