Rum River, River Meadows State Water Access Site

River Meadows provides boat launch access to the Rum River near Oak Grove in Anoka County. Located east of MN 47 at 142nd Street N.W. and N.W. The site includes a boat ramp and limited parking suitable for day-use visitors.

The Rum River is known for excellent smallmouth bass fishing and offers varying paddling conditions depending on your launch point. Be aware that zebra mussels are present in this water body, so follow local protocols for watercraft inspection and decontamination. The river's character changes along its length—upper sections offer more remote paddling accessible primarily by kayak, while lower sections near this access have stronger current with a gradient around 3.7 feet per mile. Nearby launch alternatives include Martin's Landing (RM 32.1) near Isanti for longer float trips southward toward the Mississippi River.
