The River Road boat ramp in Henniker provides a developed concrete launching point for accessing the Contoocook River. Located upstream from the Bohanan Farm parking area at the end of Tyler Bridge on Penacook Road, this is one of two public access points in Contoocook Village. The ramp is 20 feet wide with a concrete surface, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats.
Paddlers launching here can explore the scenic Contoocook River corridor with opportunities to paddle upstream or downstream. Downstream options include takeout points at Lehtinen Park or Jim Hill Riverwalk in west Concord, though these are noted as somewhat challenging pull-outs. The area offers good spring paddling conditions, and nearby Blackwater Dam (near Webster) is renowned for excellent whitewater kayaking during spring water releases. This location provides convenient access for both day trips and longer paddling adventures on the Contoocook River.
