The Nine Mile Recreation Area provides a well-developed boat launch and access point on Lake Spokane, featuring a single concrete ramp and 60 feet of dock space. The facility is open seasonally from April 1 to October 31, with canoe and kayak rentals available May 15 through September 15 for those without their own equipment. Basic amenities include vault toilets and a designated swim area, though the water entry is steep rather than gradual. A dump station is available mid-April through mid-October.
For paddlers, this location serves as an excellent put-in for accessing the Little Spokane River, which is restricted to kayaks, canoes, and rafts (no innertubes). The nearby St. George's put-in offers access to the calm lower Little Spokane River for leisurely downstream paddles. However, be aware that the Spokane River itself has hazardous sections and should only be attempted with local knowledge of conditions. If planning a shuttle paddle from St. George's, plan accordingly to position vehicles at both the start and end points.
