About This Access Site
Robert Allen Recreation Area offers boat access to Mark Twain Lake in Monroe County, Missouri. Located 17 miles west of Hannibal on Highway 36 (then south on Route J for 6 miles, west on Oakland Drive for 2 miles), this facility provides a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The area features automated fee collection machines, so plan accordingly when visiting. Note that parking is not lighted, making daytime use preferable.

Mark Twain Lake is a scenic recreational destination offering a blend of natural resources and modern amenities across multiple campgrounds and day-use areas. In addition to paddling and boating, the region provides access to the Joanna Trail (a 32-mile multi-purpose trail) and opportunities to explore the historic Mark Twain birthplace.
