Rock Creek East provides convenient access to Rock Creek Lake, one of central Iowa's most popular recreational lakes. The site features a hard-surface boat ramp suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats. Note that all watercraft are limited to a maximum speed of 5 mph on the lake. The ramp is located adjacent to a full-service campground with 196+ campsites (many with electric hookups), making it an excellent base for multi-day paddling trips.
The access area offers excellent amenities for paddlers and anglers alike, including a universally accessible fishing pier, picnic areas, and restrooms. A concession stand nearby provides boat rentals, bait, and other supplies. If you're planning an extended visit, the site features 8.5 miles of non-paved multi-use trails around the lake's perimeter, perfect for exploring between paddling sessions. Artificial jetties positioned near boat ramps throughout the lake provide additional fishing and shelter options.
