About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** Located in Romney, Hampshire County, WV on the South Branch Potomac River, this boat ramp provides access via Rt. 28/50 bridge. To reach the put-in, follow County Rd 3/Springfield Slanesville Pike from Romney (continuing straight rather than turning toward town) for approximately 2 miles along the river until you see a pull-off on your right.

**Facilities & Suitability:** Romney Bridge is a maintained West Virginia DNR public access site suitable for kayaks, canoes, and trailed boats. The South Branch Potomac River offers multiple access points in this region, making it popular for paddling and fishing. From this put-in, paddlers typically run downstream to Blue Beach bridge (approximately 5 miles) as a common take-out point. Water conditions and gradient vary seasonally, so check current water levels before paddling.

**Planning Your Visit:** As part of West Virginia's network of over 500 public access sites, this location ranges from developed facilities to more rustic access points. The WVDNR maintains these sites for public use. Before launching, confirm current conditions with local resources, as the Potomac's flow and levels can change significantly with weather and season.
