About This Access Site
Rose Hill Access offers a concrete boat ramp providing straightforward entry to the South Skunk River in Mahaska County. Located at 2449 240th St. in Rose Hill, this access point is situated near Rose Hill Marsh in an area featuring upland forest, limestone bluffs, and wetlands. The concrete ramp makes launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats relatively easy compared to unimproved sites.

The access area includes basic amenities: restrooms and a picnic area are available nearby. Tent camping is offered at a cost of $15 per night with a 14-night consecutive limit. Note that parking is limited at this location, and there are no trailer parking facilities, so plan accordingly if you're hauling a larger boat. The South Skunk River in this stretch supports various warm-water fish species including catfish, carp, and gar, making it popular with anglers as well as paddlers.
