Runaway Branch No. 2 is a public boat ramp and access site located on the Black Warrior River near Demopolis, Alabama. This is a popular put-in and take-out point for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats exploring the Black Warrior River.
The Black Warrior River is a large, slow-moving waterway classified as a 7th order stream. It flows for 168 miles through west-central Alabama, with an average elevation drop of 1.1 feet per mile. The river has an average flow of over 10,800 cubic feet per second, making it a substantial river suitable for a variety of recreational boating.
The boat ramp at Runaway Branch No. 2 provides direct access to the main stem of the Black Warrior River. Facilities include a paved parking area, primitive restrooms, and an artesian well. This site is designated as a stop on the Alabama Scenic River Trail, making it a convenient access point for paddlers exploring the river.
