The Saegertown boat ramp is a Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission (PFBC) access point located at the Route 173 crossing of French Creek in Crawford County. The launch is conveniently situated directly off US Routes 6/19, approximately 0.4 miles south of the US 6/19 and PA Route 198 intersection near H&H Market in central Saegertown. This location provides easy roadside access for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats entering the French Creek water trail.
Paddlers should be aware that PFBC launch permits or boat registration stickers may be required per PFBC regulations. The access area has been maintained through recent construction, with navigation aids implemented to support continued water trail use. French Creek offers a scenic paddling corridor through historic river towns in northwest Pennsylvania, making this access point a practical entry for exploring the water trail.
The area provides additional recreation opportunities nearby, including Woodcock Creek Lake's 333-acre summer pool and the Erie National Wildlife Refuge. Camping is available at Woodcock Creek Lake Park & Campground within 10 miles. Check current PFBC regulations and conditions before launching.
