About This Access Site
Sailboat Cove is a dedicated launch facility on Smithville Lake, a large 7,190-acre reservoir located about 30 minutes north of Kansas City. The cove features a dedicated day-use launch area ideal for small sailboats, catamarans, and windsurfing. **Note:** This facility is restricted to sailboat use only. Paddlers seeking general kayak or canoe access should check other Smithville Lake boat ramps in the area.

The facility includes picnic tables, grills, and a Mast Pole for rigging sailboats. Large sailboats should use the specialized ramp located north of the main parking lot. Walking trails are available nearby for additional recreation. For camping, Camp Branch Campground is within 10 miles of the site.

Smithville Lake offers diverse recreational opportunities, with over 4,000 acres of uncleared water providing excellent fishing habitat for bass, catfish, and other species. The lake's expansive size makes it suitable for various water activities. Check locally for current access policies, hours, and any fees before visiting.
