The Salcha River State Recreation Area offers a boat ramp and access site along the Salcha River, a large river in interior Alaska. The boat ramp provides a convenient put-in for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats to access this 154-mile long river.
The Salcha River is a seventh-order stream with an average gradient of 21.8 feet per mile, draining an area of 2,221 square miles. Paddlers can expect a large, swift-flowing river with a total elevation drop of over 3,300 feet from its headwaters to its mouth. The site provides basic amenities like vault toilets and a water pump, as well as a picnic area. A public use cabin is also available for rent near the boat launch. The recreation area is located at Mile 323.3 of the Richardson Highway, about 40 miles southeast of Fairbanks, Alaska.
