About This Access Site
Salmon Lake State Park offers convenient day-use access to Salmon Lake via a concrete boat ramp located near the park office, directly off MT Highway 83 approximately 7 miles north of Clearwater Junction. The ramp is easy to find on the west side of the highway and serves as the primary launch point for motorized and non-motorized watercraft. The day-use area also features a 60-foot courtesy dock, picnic tables, restrooms, and fire grills, making it a well-maintained facility for boaters.

Salmon Lake is a clear, natural Montana lake stocked with westslope cutthroat trout, making it popular with anglers. The lake supports both motorized boating and non-motorized paddling. Nearby camping options include Hidden Lake Campground (a quieter, non-reservable 5-site option) and several larger reservable campgrounds within 10 miles, including Big Larch and River Point Lolo Campgrounds. The park area features scenic trails that connect the day-use ramp area with additional shoreline access points, offering paddlers and boaters multiple ways to explore the lake.
