About This Access Site
Sams Point offers convenient access to Lucy Point Creek and the Coosaw River near Beaufort. This county-maintained landing features a dual-lane paved ramp and a courtesy dock, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats. The landing is heavily used, so arrive early—parking is limited to approximately 10 spaces. The ramp is located just north of the fixed bridge spanning the creek.

Paddlers exploring Lucy Point Creek will find themselves in the tidal waters of the Lowcountry, with opportunities to venture into the broader Coosaw River system. The area is rich in history, including proximity to the Reconstruction Era National Historical Park, and notably served as a filming location for the movie Forrest Gump. This is a popular put-in for both recreational paddling and fishing in the scenic Beaufort area.
