Sanders Cove (South)

Sanders Cove Campground offers convenient boat ramp access to Pat Mayse Lake, a 6,000-acre reservoir in the Red River Basin near Paris, Texas. The facility features two boat ramps within the recreation area, making it an excellent launching point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. With 67 miles of shoreline to explore, the lake provides ample paddling opportunities through gently rolling grasslands and mixed hardwood forests.

The campground is a full-service facility with 85 campsites featuring electric hookups, plus amenities including flush toilets, showers, drinking water, a dump station, and picnic areas. This makes it ideal for paddlers planning multi-day trips or family outings. To reach Sanders Cove, take Highway 271 north from Paris for 12 miles to FM 906 W, then follow it 1 mile to CR 35920 and turn left into the park. The lake provides excellent opportunities for boating, swimming and fishing. Anglers fish for largemouth bass, white crappie, sunfish, striped bass and channel and flathead catfish, among other species.

Hunting is a very popular activity in the area. The surrounding lands are managed for upland game and whitetail deer. Other species present include fox squirrel, gray squirrel, bobwhite quail, mourning dove, cottontail rabbit, raccoon and fox. Opossum, beaver, mink, skunk and nutria are also present.

The lake also provides resting and feeding habitat for migratory waterfowl. A few miles north of the project area are the famed Red River Bottoms where waterfowl congregate in impressive numbers.Facilities
