About This Access Site
Sandy Creek Park provides access to Sam Rayburn Reservoir, a sprawling 114,000-acre lake in East Texas's Big Thicket region. The facility features a two-lane concrete boat ramp suitable for kayaks, canoes, and larger boats, though the ramp may become unusable during periods of low water. The park includes amenities such as restrooms, handicap-accessible facilities, and parking areas to support day-use visitors.

A $5 day-use/boat launch fee per vehicle is required to access the ramp. The park operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and payment can be made on-site, with the option to use the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan and Pay feature if available. For those interested in extended stays, camping is available at $6 per night (including parking for up to 2 vehicles), with Boykin Springs Camping also available within 10 miles as an alternative.

Before planning your trip, check current water levels, as reservoir conditions can significantly affect ramp usability. The surrounding Sam Rayburn area offers diverse wildlife and native flora typical of the Big Thicket, making it an excellent destination for paddlers seeking both water access and natural scenery.
