About This Access Site
Sandy Creek Park offers excellent access to B.A. Steinhagen Lake, a scenic impoundment on the Neches River in southeast Texas between Woodville and Jasper. The park features three single-lane boat ramps accommodating all boat types, making it a reliable launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. Located on one of the lake's quieter coves, this 92-acre park provides a good base for exploring the scenic Big Thicket region.

Beyond the boat ramps, Sandy Creek Park offers full amenities for a complete outing, including day-use areas, picnic facilities, restrooms, and overnight camping with water and electric hookups available. The lake itself is popular for boating, fishing, canoeing, and wildlife viewing. Additional boat rentals are available if needed, and several other parks with ramps are distributed around the lake for exploring different areas.

To reach Sandy Creek Park from Jasper, take US-190 west for 10 miles, turn south on FM 777 for 2 miles to County Road 155, then west for 2.5 miles following signs to the park. For reservations or more information, contact Recreation.gov at 1 (877) 444-6777.
