**Location & Access**
Sandy Shores is located near Wolfred in Pend Oreille County, Washington, providing access to the Pend Oreille River just upstream from Albeni Falls Dam. The site is part of the Albeni Cove Campground area. From Highway 2 in Newport, Washington, follow Highway 41 south for 0.5 miles, then turn east on Fourth Street into Oldtown, Idaho, and continue approximately 3 miles to reach the campground.

**River Character & Paddling**
The Pend Oreille River is a major waterway flowing north for 141 miles with significant flow (averaging over 26,000 cubic feet per second) and a moderate gradient of 2.1 feet per mile. Paddlers and boaters can expect clear water with panoramic views. The river's size and current make it suitable for various water sports, including kayaking, canoeing, and motorboating. This access point provides a good entry to the Pend Oreille River Water Trail system.

The Albeni Falls Visitor Center features exhibits on the history of the dam and the natural features of the area. Tours of the dam are given daily during the summer.
