About This Access Site
**Location & Amenities:** Satterwhite Point Park & Marina, located in Middleburg, Vance County near Henderson (I-85 Exit 217), provides boat ramp access to the 50,000-acre John H. Kerr Reservoir (Buggs Island Lake). The facility includes a marina with fuel, boat sales, slips, and drystack storage. Contact the marina at 252-438-4411 for current conditions and amenities.

**Water Conditions:** The ramp provides access to the Roanoke River's extensive 39-mile reservoir pool along 800 miles of wooded shoreline. As a major river system draining 9,393 square miles, the Roanoke has significant flow and current. Be aware that during periods of unusually low water levels, some boat ramps—including this one—may not extend fully into the water and could be temporarily closed. Check current conditions before visiting, especially during drought periods.

**Paddling & Boating:** This location is well-suited for motorboats, canoeists, and kayakers exploring the scenic reservoir. The impounded waters offer calmer conditions than the free-flowing Roanoke River downstream, making it ideal for recreational paddling and fishing. The extensive shoreline provides numerous opportunities for day trips and exploration.
