About This Access Site
Sawyer Boat Ramp provides access to the upper reach of the Cumberland River above Lake Cumberland, located at the end of KY 1609 in McCreary County. This access point is ideal for boaters and paddlers looking to explore the Cumberland River system, which features the second-largest lake in the Cumberland River network. The ramp is situated in a scenic area within reach of Daniel Boone National Forest lands, offering access to both river and lake paddling opportunities.

Facilities at Sawyer include a boat ramp suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. Note that toilet facilities are closed during the winter season, so plan accordingly if visiting in colder months. The location provides a good departure point for both upstream river paddling and downstream access toward the main Lake Cumberland basin. For current conditions, facility updates, or specific questions about seasonal closures, contact the Stearns Ranger District at 606-528-6156.
