About This Access Site
Located in Grand Marais, Cook County, this public boat launch provides access to Sea Gull Lake, a large 3,958-acre water body with a maximum depth of 145 feet. The ramp is situated on the east side of the lake and serves as a primary entry point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. Facilities at the access site include a vault toilet and a designated swimming beach, making it a convenient starting point for day trips or longer paddling adventures.

Sea Gull Lake is part of the Superior National Forest backcountry system and offers multiple campsites throughout the lake. If you plan to camp overnight, note that all campsites must be used on Sea Gull Lake itself, and this launch becomes the alternate access point when Entry Point 54 reaches capacity. Backcountry campsites are first-come, first-served and feature fire grates and latrines. The lake's size and depth make it suitable for various paddling skill levels, though conditions should be assessed before launching. Additional amenities like volleyball courts, basketball hoops, and horseshoe pits are available at the facility on the dam side of the park.
