Shanklin Park offers a convenient boat ramp launch on the Elkhart River just south of downtown Goshen. The park features a developed ramp with ample parking, making it an excellent starting point for kayakers and canoeists. Located approximately 0.25 miles west of SR 15 on Plymouth Avenue, the site is positioned downriver from Goshen Dam. The park itself is well-maintained with amenities including flush toilets, water access, and recreational facilities like a guarded pool and playground.
Paddlers launching here can expect moderate-length river trips—typical outings last around 4 hours. The access point is easily identifiable and provides good facilities for both day trips and group outings. Note that no shuttle service is provided, so plan accordingly for your return or coordinate transportation. This is a popular spot for organized canoe trips, particularly on weekends. Contact the Goshen Park Department in advance if you need specific information about trip planning or current conditions.
