Shell Rock Park

Shell Rock Park offers a hard surface boat ramp on the east side of the Shell Rock River, located below the dam in Shell Rock, Butler County. The ramp provides convenient access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats looking to launch on this popular paddling river. The park also features a recreational trail and a scenic overlook deck with seating that faces the river and dam, making it a pleasant spot to spend time on the water or relax before/after paddling.

Boaters should be aware that the dam at Shell Rock creates an obstacle that prevents downstream passage at this location. If launching here, plan to paddle upstream or coordinate shuttle trips with other popular access points on the Shell Rock River, such as Renning's Landing or Heery Woods State Park downstream. The park provides basic amenities, and shelter reservations are available by calling 319-885-6555 for groups. This is an ideal put-in point for day trips and offers good access for fishing as well as recreational paddling.
