The Shingle Mill Road Launch provides access to the Escatawpa River, a substantial sixth-order stream that flows through Jackson County, Mississippi. This launch point is conveniently located near Moss Point and offers a boat ramp suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. The facility includes parking and basic amenities, making it an accessible entry point for paddlers looking to explore this 129-mile river system.

The Escatawpa River features moderate flow characteristics with an average velocity of 2 feet per second and a gentle 2.2 ft/mile gradient, making it manageable for paddlers of varying skill levels. From this launch, you're positioned in the lower sections of the river, about 137 miles upstream from the mouth. The river drains a 1,021 square mile watershed and maintains consistent flow averaging over 2,000 cubic feet per second, so water conditions are generally stable year-round.
