About This Access Site
Singing Pines offers a full-service boat launch on Lake Hartwell near the Georgia-South Carolina border in Anderson County. The facility includes one boat ramp, a courtesy dock, 57 picnic sites, two comfort stations, designated swimming areas, and a fishing pier. The site is located off US Highway 29, approximately 6 miles east of Hartwell, Georgia. For reservations or facility information, contact the Hartwell Lake Project Office at 888-893-0678.

Lake Hartwell is a major impoundment on the Savannah River system, offering calm water conditions ideal for recreational paddling and boating. The Savannah River itself is a significant waterway with a drainage area of over 10,000 square miles and an average flow of approximately 12,815 cubic feet per second, making it a major river system that flows toward the Atlantic Ocean. The lake environment provides protected water suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters of varying skill levels.

Note that the park season typically runs from April through September, though the boat ramp is generally available year-round. Before visiting, confirm current access and hours by contacting the Hartwell Lake Project Office, as facility operations can vary seasonally.

Singing Pines Recreation Area consists of 42 acres. The site presently offers day-use and boat-launching facilities consisting of 1 gatehouse/entrance, 57 picnic sites, 2 standard picnic shelters with water and electric service, 5 mini-shelters, 1 boat ramp, 1 courtesy dock, 2 comfort stations, 2 playground areas, 2 designated swim areas/beaches, 1 fishing pier, and associated paved roads and parking areas throughout. Fishing is one of the most popular activities at the lake. Sought-after species include largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, striped bass and hybrid bass.

The lake appeals to boaters of all kinds, whether their specialty is canoeing, sailing or motor boating. Coves and areas of quiet water provide water skiers with excellent surfaces.

Hartwell Lake is a man-made lake bordering Georgia and South Carolina on the Savannah, Tugaloo and Seneca Rivers. The dam and lake area boasts 8 campgrounds and 11 day-use facilities that are operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers.
The Hartwell Project was originally authorized for hydro-power, flood control, and navigation. Later, recreation, water quality, water supply and fish and wildlife management were added.
Surrounding vegetation allows for plenty of shade, and the 962 miles of shoreline provide numerous swimming beaches, picnic areas and boat ramps.
