About This Access Site
Skibo Mill provides public boat access to the St. Louis River in Babbitt, offering both trailer and carry-in launching options. This historic site sits among the ruins of an early 20th-century sawmill and dam, adding scenic character to your paddling experience. The access point is open 24 hours and can accommodate boats up to 12-18 feet.

**Paddling Conditions:** Expect Class I-II rapids and numerous boulder beds immediately downstream from the mill toward Highway 100. **Water levels are critical here**—this section may become impassable during medium to low water conditions, so check current flows before launching. Conditions improve significantly below Highway 100, where the river settles into pleasant twists and turns through wooded shoreline. Watercraft with shallow draft are recommended for this section due to the boulder beds.
