Smith Lake

Smith Lake is a man-made reservoir located near Rushville in Sheridan County. The boat ramp is accessed via Smith Lake Road off MCB-2 on the west side of the lake. **Note that Smith Lake Road is a narrow, graveled road (one vehicle width), so plan accordingly and use caution when towing larger boats.** The lake serves as a water supply reservoir and supports recreational boating, fishing, and paddling activities.

This access point is suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats. As a man-made reservoir, Smith Lake offers relatively calm water conditions ideal for paddlers of varying skill levels. Before launching, check current water levels and conditions, as reservoir levels can fluctuate seasonally. The lake has multiple boat ramps available, so if one area is congested or unsuitable, alternatives may be nearby. Bring plenty of water and supplies, as this is a remote location in the Nebraska Panhandle.
