About This Access Site
The Snake River access site provides a newly constructed public boat launch on the St. Croix River near Rock Creek in Pine County, Minnesota. This facility features a two-lane launching ramp and approximately 35 parking spots for vehicles with trailers, making it convenient for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. The site was completed in late 2024 as part of the St. Croix Crossing project and represents a significant expansion of public access to the lower St. Croix River.

This section of the St. Croix River offers a sand and gravel bottom ideal for recreational paddling and fishing, particularly for smallmouth bass. Water conditions vary seasonally—during high water periods, paddlers may encounter small rapids between Head of the Rapids landing and the Highway 70 bridge upstream. The site includes basic amenities with vault toilets available. Both paddlers and boaters should check current water levels and conditions before launching, as spring flows can create faster currents and additional rapids.
