Sorenson is one of five developed public access points on Lake Poinsett, a 7,903-acre recreational lake located in Arlington, Hamlin County. The access features a well-maintained boat ramp and a smooth, quality access road that makes launching straightforward for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The ramp itself is state-of-the-art and professionally maintained, providing a safe and secure entry point to the water.
Lake Poinsett is a shallow, connected lake system with a maximum depth of 22 feet and mean depth of 17 feet, making it accessible for a variety of watercraft. The lake is fed by the Dry Lake subwatershed to the north and Lake Albert, creating a interconnected chain of lakes ideal for exploring. With multiple access points around the shoreline—including Saaranen, Prestrude, Hammer's Beach, and the LP State Recreation Area—paddlers and boaters have flexibility in planning routes and can potentially create loop trips or access different areas of the lake system.
