Sound Park offers a well-developed public access point on the southwestern shores of Currituck Sound in Point Harbor. The facility includes two launching lanes, courtesy docks, 27 paved parking spaces for boat trailers, picnic pavilions, grills, and restrooms. The park is open daily until sunset, with no trespassing allowed after dark. Note that the concrete boat ramp surface can be rough on kayak hulls, so bringing a protective rubber pad for launching is recommended.
Currituck Sound is a shallow, brackish water body ideal for paddling and recreational boating. Sound Park's location and amenities make it a convenient base for exploring the sound's calm waters. When visiting, be aware that the waterfront facilities have periodically undergone maintenance projects that may affect access, so it's worth confirming current conditions before your visit. The nearby Wright Brothers National Memorial and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site offer opportunities to combine water recreation with historical exploration in this scenic Outer Banks region.
