About This Access Site
South Manisitique Lake Campground offers boat ramp and carry-in access for paddlers and boaters on South Manisitique Lake in Curtis, Michigan. The ramp is located on the south side of the campground and features a shallow launch area—be prepared to wade into the water, as there is no dock. While manageable for launching and loading, getting all four tires wet is typical. The campground itself provides convenient amenities including 72 sites with electrical service (20/30-amp and some 50-amp options), vault toilets, a sanitation station, and a designated swimming beach nearby.

South Manisitique Lake is well-known for excellent fishing opportunities, particularly for walleye, crappie, and bluegill, though many other fish species are also caught here. The lake offers shallow areas suitable for anchoring or beaching boats just offshore. Half of the campground's campsites provide direct private lake access for swimming and boating, making this a good option for paddlers planning a multi-day trip. The area is also near the Kirtland's Warbler Wildlife Management Area and Seney National Wildlife Refuge, offering additional outdoor recreation opportunities.
