About This Access Site
Located in the White Mountain National Forest near Stark, NH, the South Ponds Recreation Area offers a public boat ramp providing access to South Pond, a 124-acre natural lake with a maximum depth of 95 feet. The ramp is situated at an elevation of 1,115 feet and serves as the primary launching point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The recreation area also features a sandy beach, picnic shelter, restrooms, and parking facilities, making it a well-developed access point for paddling and fishing enthusiasts.

To reach South Ponds, take Route 3 south to Route 25 south, then turn left on Route 175A and right onto Green Street—the access is on the left. The pond is stocked with yearling brook and rainbow trout, making it a popular destination for both paddlers and anglers.
