South Shore Marina is a well-developed public access point located on FM 3706 along the south shore of Waco Bay on Lake Tawakoni. The facility features two 2-lane concrete boat ramps and a 300-foot fishing pier, making it suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and larger motorboats. The site is conveniently situated near the east end of the Tawakoni Causeway on Texas 276, providing easy access for paddlers exploring the lake's calm waters.
This access point is ideal for recreational paddling on Lake Tawakoni's relatively protected bays and coves. The concrete ramps accommodate both hand-launches for kayaks and canoes as well as trailer boat launches. The facility is managed by Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, and the nearby two-lane ramps at Two Mile Bridge East provide an alternative nearby option if South Shore Marina is congested. Paddlers should be aware that Tawakoni is a reservoir on the Sabine River system, so water levels can fluctuate seasonally, which may affect ramp accessibility during low-water periods.
