The South Shore Unit boat ramp provides access to Elm Creek and Choke Canyon Reservoir in Live Oak County. This is a day-use facility where gates are locked between 10pm and 6am; visitors arriving after hours can use the self-pay station at park headquarters. The ramp is suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats accessing the reservoir created by the Nueces River Project.
Paddlers and anglers will find a well-developed recreation area with picnic facilities, a swimming area, and shoreline fishing opportunities (no license required for shore fishing). For additional amenities and services, the nearby Calliham Unit offers fish cleaning shelters, a rock jetty, and a bait shop. Contact the park at 361-786-3868 for specific information about ramp conditions, fees, or seasonal access restrictions.
