About This Access Site
**South Turtle Lake** is a 466-acre lake located on the northeastern shore in Presque Isle, Vilas County, offering public boat access via a paved concrete ramp. The lake reaches a maximum depth of 40 feet, though water clarity is low. This access point serves as a gateway to the Turtle Lake chain, connecting to North Turtle Lake via a water passage under a small bridge downstream.

The ramp features a concrete surface suitable for launching motorboats and larger watercraft, with roadside parking available. Kayakers and canoeists will find ample paddling space on the main lake and can explore the scenic connection to North Turtle Lake. The lake supports a healthy fishery including musky, northern pike, walleye, largemouth and smallmouth bass, and panfish.
