Southshore Park offers a two-lane public boat ramp providing access to Lake Jacksonville and Gum Creek in Jacksonville, Cherokee County. The ramp is situated in a protected cove, making it a suitable launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The facility includes parking for approximately 40 vehicles and a boat trailer turnaround, with room for boat trailer parking. Follow College Avenue as it becomes Old Byrd Road, continue south for 1 mile, and turn left onto the paved road marked by a Public Boat Ramp sign. Southshore Park is one of three public access points serving Lake Jacksonville, alongside the northwest ramp and Peninsula Point Public Park & Ramp, giving paddlers options depending on their needs and launch preferences.
