About This Access Site
Speelyai Bay Park offers a developed boat launch on Merwin Reservoir near Ariel, WA, with extensive amenities including 304 campsites, picnic areas, swimming beaches, restrooms, fresh water, hot showers, and RV facilities. The ramp is operated by PacifiCorp and managed as part of a larger recreation area on this North Fork Lewis River impoundment.

**Important Considerations for Paddlers:** Merwin Reservoir's water level fluctuates significantly based on power generation and water management needs, which can affect boat launch accessibility and paddling conditions. Before visiting, confirm current lake levels and ramp status—PacifiCorp does not guarantee consistent daily water elevations. Non-motorized paddlecraft can access the nearby Yale Reservoir via shoreline portage if Merwin is unavailable. The reservoir is popular for fishing (kokanee and tiger muskie), so expect recreational boat traffic during peak seasons.

For current conditions, reservations, or access updates, contact PacifiCorp at 801-280-3233. The site is located on the south side of Highway SR503 and is shared by Clark and Cowlitz counties.
