About This Access Site
Spring Lake Park offers public water access to Spring Lake in Hastings, located within the Mississippi National River & Recreation Area. The site features a newly improved boat ramp along with amenities including an Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) inspection and cleaning station, parking, and night sky-friendly lighting. This is a good option for paddlers and boaters seeking access to a quieter water body within the urban corridor between St. Paul and Hastings.

**Important considerations for paddlers:** Spring Lake is very shallow with numerous snags and submerged obstacles, making it unsuitable for larger boats. Kayakers and canoeists should be prepared for shallow water conditions and navigate carefully. The lake's small size limits extended paddling opportunities but offers a sheltered setting for casual paddling and fishing. Note that the access road (Rd 42 on Hillary Path) is minimally maintained, so use caution when driving to the site.

For additional questions about the access site or facility details, contact the Minnesota DNR at nancy.stewart@state.mn.us.
