St. Albans Roadside Park offers a well-maintained public boat ramp providing direct access to the Kanawha River. The recently renovated facility includes an upgraded launch ramp and dock, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. The park also features amenities including RV camping, picnic shelters, a water source, and a dumping station, making it a convenient multi-use recreation destination.
Be aware that the Kanawha River in this area is an active commercial waterway, regularly used by coal barges and large industrial traffic. Paddlers should stay alert for barge traffic and plan accordingly. The river's commercial nature means water conditions may be influenced by dam operations and industrial activity. The park is an excellent put-in point for exploring the Kanawha River and accessing the Winfield Pool, one of the river's major navigation projects.
