About This Access Site
The St. Croix Boomsite in Stillwater provides public boat access to the Lower St. Croix River, a popular paddling destination in Washington County. The launch is located at the upstream limit of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' 9-foot channel project. This is a Minnesota DNR-operated facility and one of four major public landings along the Lower St. Croix, making it a convenient access point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters.

Paddlers should be aware that the area from the Taylors Falls/St. Croix Falls hydroelectric dam downstream to the Arcola Sandbar is designated as a slow-speed zone, where motorboats may only create minimal wake. The Boomsite can get busy on weekends with first-come, first-served parking, so arriving early is recommended. Boaters should exercise caution at this location, particularly given the heavy recreational use in the area and proximity to the dam upstream.
