This primitive sand ramp provides direct access to Goose Creek Bay and the Gulf of Mexico waters within St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. Located 4 miles down Wakulla Beach Road from the US 98 intersection near Crawfordville, the launch serves small boats and is ideal for kayakers and canoeists exploring the refuge's coastal waters and tidal marshes. The ramp provides saltwater access to scenic paddling routes along the refuge shoreline, including Goose Creek Bay and nearby creeks.
As a primitive facility, expect a sandy launch with minimal amenities at the immediate ramp area. Flush toilets are available at the picnic grounds on Lighthouse Road near the refuge entrance. The refuge is open year-round for paddling and wildlife viewing, though hunting seasons occur in fall and winter months. The area is rich in natural habitat featuring salt marshes, tidal flats, and forest, making it excellent for wildlife observation. Nearby paddling routes begin at Shell Point Beach and follow the scenic shoreline eastward past Walker Creek and Live Oak Island.
