The St. Regis Boat Ramp provides access to the Clark Fork River in western Montana near the small town of St. Regis. The launch facility includes a boat ramp, parking area, and outhouse on the south/east side of Highway 135. **Note:** The ramp has a sandy surface, so 4-wheel drive is recommended for vehicle launching. The trail from the parking area heads west and north toward the water.
For paddlers and anglers, the lower Clark Fork in this area offers a relatively remote float with light use. Several takeout options exist downstream, including the Ferry Landing fishing access site approximately 13 miles away along Highway 135 (marked on the left just after a bridge crossing). Alternatively, the Superior/Dry Creek area provides another takeout option. If you prefer a shorter paddle, First Creek offers a mid-river launch point that shortens the overall distance.
Nearby camping options include Little Joe Campground and Sloway Campground (reservable) in the Lolo National Forest, as well as Peninsula Dispersed Campground—all within 10 miles of the access site. Plan accordingly for water conditions and bring appropriate gear for a backcountry float on this scenic stretch of river.
