About This Access Site
Stampede Reservoir is a popular destination for a variety of water-based recreation, including kayaking, canoeing, motorized boating, and fishing. The reservoir is located about 8 miles north of Boca Reservoir in the Sierra Nevada mountains of Northern California.

The primary boat launch site is accessed by taking a left onto 261 Road and crossing Stampede Dam. There are several good boat ramps that allow for easy access to the lake. However, note that there are no marinas at Stampede Reservoir, so boaters should come prepared with adequate fuel and supplies.

The reservoir offers a mix of calm, flat water as well as some wind-driven chop, making it suitable for a range of paddle craft. Fishing is also popular, with opportunities to catch trout and other game fish. Surrounding campgrounds provide convenient overnight options for those looking to spend more time exploring the area by water.
