Lac Qui Parle Lake, SPK (NW) State Water Access S*

Located on the western edge of Lac qui Parle State Park near Montevideo, this boat ramp provides convenient access to the 5,000-acre lake via a concrete ramp and dock. The ramp is positioned down the shore from the main picnic area, making it easy for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters to launch. The park itself offers additional amenities including a swimming beach, hiking trails, cross-country ski routes, and on-site canoe/kayak rentals for those without their own equipment.

Lac qui Parle Lake is a popular fishing destination, particularly for walleye, channel catfish, black crappie, and perch. The lake was constructed for flood control purposes along the Minnesota River Valley and spans 5,000 acres, providing ample paddling and exploration opportunities. Spring and fall visitors may encounter large numbers of migratory waterfowl that give the lake its distinctive character—"Lac qui Parle" means "the lake which talks" in French, reflecting the chorus of bird calls during migration seasons.
