The Steel Ford boat ramp provides access to the Tennessee River's Guntersville Lake in Guntersville, Alabama. This is a popular launch site for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats exploring the scenic lake and its surroundings.
The ramp is located on the east bank of the Tennessee River, west of Alabama Highway 227. To reach the access point, take 227 north from Guntersville, turn left into the Guntersville State Park entrance, then turn left on County Road 505 toward the cabins. The boat ramp will be on your right. The site features a single stationary dock, but no restrooms or other amenities.
Guntersville Lake is a wide, navigable reservoir along the Tennessee River with generally calm waters suitable for a variety of watercraft. Paddlers can explore the lake's numerous coves and inlets or venture further upstream and downstream. Be mindful of boat traffic, especially near the access point. Always wear a lifejacket and check water levels and weather conditions before launching.
