Steele Creek Marina is a full-service access point on the 50,000-acre John H. Kerr Reservoir (also known as Buggs Island Lake) in Henderson, Vance County, North Carolina. The facility features multiple boat launching ramps suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorized vessels, along with a marina store, fuel dock, and pump-out station. The reservoir offers a large, sheltered paddling environment across 50,000 acres with 800 miles of wooded shoreline, making it excellent for recreational paddling, fishing, and cruising. Nutbush Creek, which feeds into the reservoir, has a moderate 6.6 ft/mile gradient and average flow of 115 cubic feet per second, supporting diverse boating activities. Given the location's popularity with sailboaters and the windy conditions typical of the area, paddlers should be prepared for variable wind conditions, particularly in open water areas.
