Steele Creek Park North is a convenient access point on the west shore of Lake Whitney in mid-lake, operated by Texas Parks & Wildlife. The facility features multiple boat ramps—including both single-lane and two-lane options—making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. To reach the park from the dam, take FM 56 toward Lakeside Village, cross the Steele Creek bridge, turn right at the first road, and continue to the T-intersection where you'll turn right again.
This location offers good fishing access and direct entry to Lake Whitney's main water body. Note that the park has two distinct sections; the northern area provides better general boating access, while the southern section overlooks Steele Creek itself, which is brushier and less ideal for paddling. The site is non-reservable and free to use. For current conditions or additional information, contact the facility at (254) 622-3332 or visit the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Whitney Lake website.
