About This Access Site
The Stephen C. Foster State Park boat ramp provides access to the Okefenokee-Suwannee River system, a unique waterway home to diverse wildlife and natural scenery. Located in the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, this boat launch is an ideal starting point for paddlers and small boaters.

The launch site on Jones Island offers direct access to over 15 miles of day-use trails, including a 2-mile route to the historic Billy's Island. Canoe and kayak rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and overnight canoe permits can be reserved through the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. Boaters should be aware of the park's closing time of 10 PM and the $5 refuge fee.

The Suwannee River, known for its tea-colored waters and impressive cypress trees, flows gently nearby and can be accessed at the Suwannee River Visitor Center's boat ramp. Those looking to explore the renowned Okefenokee Swamp will find the park's boat launch a convenient gateway to the region's abundant wildlife, fishing, and birding opportunities.
