About This Access Site
Goose Lake is a shallow marsh lake within the Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge complex, located about 17 miles northeast of Fallon, Nevada. This access point serves paddlers and boaters exploring one of Nevada's important migratory bird habitats. The refuge was established in 1948 and spans diverse terrain ranging from salt desert scrub uplands to shallow marsh environments.

**Boating Regulations:** Goose Lake is one of the few waters in the refuge where motorized boating is permitted—specifically air-thrust boats only. Nonmotorized vessels (kayaks, canoes) are allowed on most refuge lakes and bays, making this an excellent destination for quiet paddling. However, check current restrictions before your visit, as certain areas within the refuge complex have seasonal closures and designated use zones.

For current conditions, specific access details, and any seasonal restrictions, contact Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge directly at 775-423-5128 or stillwater@fws.gov. The shallow nature of these marsh lakes means water levels can fluctuate seasonally, so conditions may vary throughout the year. Expect a peaceful paddling experience in an important wildlife habitat.
