About This Access Site
The Stony Gorge Reservoir in Glenn County, California offers a popular boat ramp and recreation area for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. The reservoir is a man-made lake created by the Stony Gorge Dam, completed in 1928.

The main boat launch site is located at the Pines Group Site, which provides a single-lane boat ramp that is typically usable for most of the summer, depending on water levels. There is paved parking available near the ramp, and the site is ADA-accessible. The reservoir itself is a sizable waterbody, offering ample space for water sports and boating. Anglers will find largemouth and smallmouth bass as well as other species.

Camping is available at the Pines Group Site, which is reservable. However, outside of the group area, the surrounding lands provide free, dispersed camping opportunities as well. Visitors should note that the access gate to the boat ramp may be closed during the off-season, so it's best to contact the Bureau of Reclamation's Northern California Area Office at (530) 968-5267 for the latest information before planning a trip.
